A girl can get pregnant the first time she has sex. Although home pregnancy tests are very accurate if they're done correctly and at the right time, it's best to visit a doctor (or health clinic).

If it's less than 120 hours since you had sex, you can help prevent an unwanted pregnancy by taking emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs). ECPs work best when taken within 72 hours of having sex. Since you're younger than 17, you'll need to get a doctor's prescription for emergency contraception. Health clinics such as Planned Parenthood can also provide ECPs and pregnancy counseling.

While you're at the doctor's office or clinic, you can also be tested for STDs and discuss birth control options and protection against STDs, such as using a condom every time you have sex.
