who straightens their hair or has before?how do i do it..??

I put it 1/2 way up in a poney and straightent the bottem half then do the top. Make sure to do it in thin srips and use a heat protectant. I damaged my hair by not useing the protectant. I use 'John Frieda Frizz-Ease Heat Defeat'
